Privacy Policy for SafePulse

Effective Date: October 24, 2025

Introduction

Welcome to SafePulse ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application, SafePulse (the "App").

This App is designed with your privacy as a top priority. **All of your personal data, including your emergency contacts and custom messages, is stored locally on your device and is never uploaded, collected, or stored on our servers.**

Information We Collect and How We Use It

To provide our services, the App requests permission to access certain features and data on your device. All data is used strictly within the App on your device.

  • Contacts (READ_CONTACTS):
    • How We Use It: We request permission to read your contacts so you can easily select and save up to five (5) emergency contacts.
    • Storage: Your selected emergency contacts are stored **only on your device's local storage**. We do not see, copy, or store your contact list on any server.
  • Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION):
    • How We Use It (Emergency): When you activate a panic alert (via SMS or WhatsApp), the App accesses your device's current location to include it in the emergency message.
    • How We Use It (Setup): When you first use the app, we access your location one time to suggest a default country code for your phone number inputs.
    • Storage: Your location is fetched only when you request it (for an alert or country detection). **We do not track your location in the background, store your location history, or upload it to any server.**
  • SMS (SEND_SMS / ACTION_SENDTO):
    • How We Use It: When you choose the "Send via SMS" option, the App prepares an emergency message and opens your phone's default SMS application, pre-filled with your selected contacts and message. **You must manually press "send"** to send the message. The SEND_SMS permission is requested to support this feature.
  • Custom Emergency Message:
    • How We Use It: The App allows you to write and save a custom emergency message in the Settings page.
    • Storage: This custom message is stored **only on your device's local storage** and is used to pre-fill your alert when triggered.

Third-Party Services

The App uses third-party services to provide its functionality. These services have their own privacy policies.

  • Google AdMob: The App is supported by ads from Google AdMob. AdMob may collect data such as device identifiers, IP addresses, and cookie information to serve personalized ads. We do not share any of your personal data (contacts, location) with Google AdMob. We recommend you review Google's Ad Privacy Policy.
  • Google Play Services (for Location): The App uses Google Play Services to securely request your location and to prompt you to enable location services if they are turned off.
  • BigDataCloud API: To automatically detect your default country for phone number input, we send your latitude and longitude coordinates to the BigDataCloud API. This request is anonymous and does not include any personally identifiable information.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your personal information with any third parties.

The only "sharing" of your information occurs when **you**, the user, actively choose to send an emergency alert. The App prepares the message, but **you** control the final act of sending it to your chosen contacts through your device's SMS or WhatsApp application.

Data Security

We are committed to ensuring your information is secure. Since all personal data is stored locally on your device, the security of your data is protected by the security measures of your phone's operating system (e.g., your device passcode, biometric authentication, and encryption).

Children's Privacy

Our App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children. If you believe your child has provided us with information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
